The Best Class I've Taken at BYU

SFL 110!!

I don’t take elective credits a lot, but my friend, Annie, always said that an elective helps a heavy semester. Looking at my schedule for this semester, I decided to take her advice. I decided to give in to my love of baking and take SFL 110—Food Preps in the Home.

Due to COVID-19, I took my course remotely, so I couldn’t work with a group in the BYU lab. However, I feel like I go to rave about food with fellow foodies on our online discussion board. My classmates shared tons of mouth-watering recipes 😍.

My assignments also pushed me to step out of my comfort zone and make things I normally wouldn’t.

Here are my top 2 recipes:

1. Cinnamon rolls

I always thought cinnamon rolls were a pain to make, but they are actually super easy and delicious. I used maple extract in the recipe, and it tasted like a breakfast wonderland. However, today I used vanilla frosting, and they were even better!! (There's a pic of my cute nephews helping me make them 💖).

2. Biscuits

I love biscuits!! After spending some time in the South with PERFECT biscuits, I constantly missed them. I never thought I could make biscuits, but that was one of my assignments. These were way easier than I thought, and they were buttery and flaky perfection! My husband said this recipe was the closest thing he'd gotten to a good southern biscuit since he'd come from his mission in Noth Carolina.
